Now that I am back my training has begun. For the next three months I will be transformed into a person who can run multiple miles and then jump on my bike and ride multiple miles and finally jump off my bike and run some more! Let's hope this goes well. I must say I have the perfect weather to train in, a high of 70 every day and a low of 40 at night. Since my run is a trail run I will be training at Papago Park down the road from me that has miles of trails that I can run on. Here is what I did today...I decided to sprint some 400 meter runs all times around 2 minutes. I remember the days in track when I was running these at a minute flat, oh how I miss those days you probably remember those days Katie! Trying to get faster so I wanted to do some sprints and then some lifting between runs.
400m run
2 minutes of squats with 15lb weights
400m run
2 minutes of walking lunges with 20lb weights
400m run
2 minutes of shoulder press/rows
400m run
10 minutes of abs and stretching.
* Since I've given up dairy I now add Almond Breeze to my coffee with ground up cinnamon....watch out Starbucks! I die for this drink.
Speaking of old track days, you'll be so proud of me! I am running 7 minute miles, 8+ years outta high school track! It's taken my butt a long time... when I started, my miles were 11 min. each.
ReplyDeleteTotally not stealing your duathlon thunder, just more fun to share with people who actually know how much work it takes! PLEASE keep us posted on your training progress!!
Oh man our track days, I would get so freaking nervous doing the 4x400! I'm totally excited for your 7 minute miles!
