Choose Health Every Day

I'm one of those people who will dip my feet into anything.  On my very first day of work out here I watched a seminar on Health in the workplace.  At the end the director of HR asked if anyone was interested in becoming a Wellness Coach, I immediately threw my hand up! I am taking my second course that streams live from the Marriott headquarters in D.C. next week.  It's my responsibility to involve the whole office in a 30-day National Challenge.  Each day starting in September I get to help everyone I work with make healthy decisions.  Such as walking with a coworker during your break, making sure they are drinking water instead of sugary drinks, eating fruits and vegetables...the list goes on.  Each day you complete the healthy activity you will enter it in an online spreadsheet and be entered into a drawing for a Wii fit, iPod touch, and other really cool prizes.

I wanted to plan one big event the month of September outside of work that could involve everyone so I decided to sign up in a local 5k. I am going to create a team and all who want to participate can sign up.  Some people I have talked to have never ran 3 consecutive miles in their life so I am going to have to be a  huge motivational factor.  I'm very excited to be taking on this challenge.  I try to make smart decisions on a daily basis.  My overall health is extremely important to me from a physical aspect and an emotional one.  Eating healthy and exercising really improves my overall mood.  I can tell the moment I become dehydrated and the exact moment I know I need to eat again ( I call myself a "grazer" because I eat every 3 hours). Hopefully I can motivate as many people as I can to start thinking more seriously about their health.  It gets overlooked sometimes and I feel that it should be at the top of everyones list!

(The picture above is of Cody's delicious Spinach Bread.  You take spinach throw it in the blender with eggs.  Then he added red peppers and onions.  Throw it in the oven, bake it and the result is magical.  I know it might not look appetizing but I assure you it's simply delicious.)
