Anyhow, here's a quick overview of what I am up to in Athens, Ohio.
1. Working like a dog at Ohio University. Recently "promoted" to Assistant Coordinator of Student Services in our department. I'd really just prefer to keep doing my previous job, because it was a hell of a lot less stressful, and I would have had much more time to do other things at work, such as blogging. But I will keep trucking along with this for as long as I can stand it.
2. Loving my dairy farmer boyfriend. This one even cracks me up. His name is Chris, and yes, I've learned to milk cows. In fact, I do my "chores" twice a week and love every minute of it. It's a 300 acre farm with about 100 cows. Right now this is my favorite place in the world to be. It's relaxing, it's hard work, it's gratifying, and I get to feel like I'm in a country song twice a week.
Some of the cows on their way to evening milking.
3. Just trying to keep things as simple as possible. It's amazing to me the difference in lifestyle, priorities, manners, even the driving speed that two and a half hours across one state can make. I feel so blessed to have found an environment where I feel so calm and at ease, and I've decided from here that I must move even further into the country and have the drive to live even more simple and basic. One of my good friends jokes that pretty soon I'm going to be Amish. I highly doubt that. I love beer and music and big trucks too much.
Well there's a glimpse of where I'm at and what I'm thinking. I promise, more details, opinions, and things to share in the future.
Take care,
Holly
Thank you Holly....I love everything about this blog! You make me want to milk a cow. How long have you been seeing Chris? I hope in a few years I will also join the living in the middle of nowhere hopefully in the Rocky Mountains...then we can share stories of not seeing people for days!

ReplyDeleteI've been seeing him since the beginning of February. My next move will be to a residence without cell reception. I don't want to see anything but land and trees when I step out from my house!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is always welcome to visit :) I've been working on decorating the spare bedroom!
